Dougie was busy last night bringing in his ‘No. 10’, Andre Moritz and letting go the homesick, Marvin Sordell

Last night, in the fading hours of the month of July, Dougie Freedman finally landed his coveted ‘No. 10`? But did he lose his breakout ‘No. 9`?

In an evening which played-out like a microcosm of the summer, a flurry of transfer activity occurred. Brazilian playmaker Andre Moritz pulled a u-turn on homecoming and signed on a free transfer, while Marvin Sordell got his wish to impede the nosebleeds with a move ‘darn sarf` by joining Charlton on loan.

Moritz seemed destined to move to the Reebok earlier in the summer but reportedly had a change of heart. He decided to head back home to continue his career in Brazil,, but now it would seem, Dougie`s headlocks and knuckle-rubs are persuasive.

Also last night, Marvin Sordell seemed to get his wish of a move closer to the capital, by signing a loan deal with Charlton over new-boys Bournemouth. The length of the deal is unclear but it is no secret the striker has struggled to settle ‘ere up t`north.

Without kicking and screaming on his part, I expect Sordell is happy with the move. But is it the right move for the Wanderers? Apart from Rob Hall`s dazzling tricks and runs, Sordell`s goals and form has been the only salient bright-spots of Bolton`s preseason. Marvin was also building a nice rapport with the aforementioned ball-supplier, Hall.
Sordell`s departure not only puts more pressure on our remaining strikers- Beckford, Ngog, Davies and Eaves- to score goals, it also puts pressure on our promotion hopes for them to stay healthy. Ok, four starting strikers on our books is ample, especially if our main marksman- presumably Beckford- stays healthy. But Bolton Wanderers have scored 4 goals in preseason? And we`ve just loaned out the man responsible for 3 of them.

On a separate note and one rumoured story which will delight some Whites fans? Reports are claiming that full-back Tyrone Mears could be heading out on a season-long loan to Millwall.
Good news? Bad news? Or just, meh?
