A quick post from Bob Davidson on Bolton Wanderers books

I read on this site recently about the launch of Chris Flanagan`s new book “Who Put The Ball In The Munich Net?” Good luck with sales, Chris.

The post reminded me that whilst I`ve amassed a fairly decent collection of football books but I also seem to have mislaid a few on the way. One that`s gone missing is “Wartime Wanderers” by Tim Purcell (and others) – a readable and informative account of what happened to the Bolton Wanderers football team at the outbreak of WWII – and thereafter. That`s one I`d like to get back in my library.

There must be other good ones too – Sir Nat`s biography by Andrew Collomosse being one that I`ve not read yet. I`m also curious about “Walking Down The Manny Road” by Doug Michell (published in 2011, I think) – I`ve read very mixed reviews about this. Anyone in VitalBolton Land read this?

I`d appreciate any suggestions as to worthwhile BWFC-related publications. I`ve deliberately omitted any reference to Dean Hayes titles (for obvious reasons) and wouldn`t expect any to be recommended.

In other news, fortnightly columnist Jay Bhandari has left the site. He was unable to contribute to the Wanderers Project as previously discussed and is unable to commit to writing every two weeks. I’d like to thank him for his posts. Since Jay’s left, the search for a new full time writer is underway. If you’re interested in this position please get in touch- bolton@vitalfootball.co.uk. From there we can discuss further details. Many thanks.
