BWFC: Predictions

At the start of the season, I was confident and said we`d finish 8th

Yeah, I know- that was pretty stupid, we had very limited attacking threat and our defence was very shaky. At around October time, I said we`d finish 18th which looked more likely under a hapless Dougie Freedman team.

Then Neil Lennon came in, and after winning four of his first six, with a particularly strong home record, many (including myself) thought that we could aim for the playoffs.

Football is a very difficult game to predict, as anything can happen. I`m also probably one of the worst, out of a number of very bad predictors. However, I did say we`d beat Cardiff City 3-0- I was pretty proud of that.

I think most of us can say that the Neil Lennon honeymoon period is definitely over. It was great while it lasted, especially when we put three past the likes of Cardiff, Brentford and Wigan while also impressing over two games against Liverpool.

After poor displays against Rotheram United and Derby County- against both of which we conceded four goals, many fans decided that a mid-table finish would be more realistic. However, after a great result last night against Fulham, there is belief again.

Since it`s so hard to predict football, I think it`s fair to allow people to change their predictions. I`ll be reverting to my original thought- 8th. Those who read this site regularly will know that I have quite a history of being overly-optimistic, but I firmly do believe that with the strength in squad and coaching, this is possible. (Sidenote, I received several tweets from an unnamed joker who argued with a point I made, which I`m fine with- everyone`s entitled to their opinion. However, whenever I tried to explain a point he just changed the subject in an attempt to make himself sound clever. In the process he said I was too negative which means I have no credibility. When was the last time I was negative?? Anyway the reason for saying that is that we`ll be blocking anyone on Twitter who seems to have no aim other than to annoy us).

I think we`ll continue to do well, but poor results of late will have prevented us from reaching the playoffs, which should be the target for next year; patience is key.

Here are some videos highlighting some of the feelings around the club:
