Following links of a potential takeover from Thai companies BEC Tero and Siam Sports Syndicate, rubbished by Chairman Phil Gartside, Big Phil appears to have flown to Thailand to yes, talk takeovers. BBC Manchester reports.

‘Thai entertainment company BEC-Tero and Siam Sport Syndicate have previously been linked with a joint bid.

Businessman Eddie Davies currently owns Wanderers through parent company Burnden Leisure PLC.’

Speaking to BBC Manchester, manager Neil Lennon said ‘I don’t know about selling the club, but I know Phil Gartside is in Thailand to discuss a proposition from some Thai businessmen.

‘I’ve no idea what the ins and outs of it are, I’ll know more when Phil comes back.’

On whether he was concerned with the potential change in ownership, Lennon said ‘Not really. But it is strange that this has happened so soon in my tenure if you want to put it that way

But if it is the best thing going forward for the club then so be it’

I think Lennon has spoken well in this case and has played it safely and in my opinion correctly.

I did say that I’d be very surprised if something surfaced from these rumors but that is now looking increasingly likely.

It is a worry for Wanderers supporters if they do not choose to invest in a way that will help the club progress in the future and concerns arose when the concerned parties spoke heavily on the club’s potential capital rather than footballing ambitions.

From my experiences playing Football Manager, once a club is under takeover talks they are put under a transfer embargo and I feel that Phil Gartside will have only taken this risk if he felt that something was likely to happen.

This will limit Lennon’s transfer activity until the discussions cease.

What are your thoughts on the potential takeover?
