BWFC: Takeover Talk?

Two Thai companies are reportedly joining forces in an effort to buy Bolton Wanderers from Eddie Davies.

I’m sure you’ve all read about this. If you haven’t, check your usual BWFC source- they’ve all written about it extensively.

Since, as I said, a lot has already been published about the ins and outs of this possible deal I shall not do so myself. At Vital Bolton we like to share our views and warmly invite you to do the same and here’s where I stand…

I’m about 96% sure that this deal will NOT happen. Yes I did say that the Hillary Devey thing might actually be real interest but she actually had something to do with the club. The two parties involved here hope to promote Thai footballers in England and are just looking at the club with ‘financial goggles’ (I would like to trademark that phrase). I do not believe that they actually care about whether or not we’ll be in the Premier League in a few years or even think about keeping our best players. If we were to look at our club with short term business sense you could just say ‘We’re not getting promoted this year- sell Mavies, Lee and Spearing then replaces them with loanees’. I think we can all agree that that is not what we want and since these people have experience with football (in Thailand) I’d hope that they wouldn’t be interested in the club if they were to do that.

Whatever does end up happening, I hope our owners (whether they be Eddie Davies, the Thai groups or Joe Bloggs) care about our club and work as hard as possible to act in the best interests of the club.
