Jay Spearing is back, my friends, and this time it’s permanent

He’s back! And this time, it’s permanent…

Fearing a late approach from Owen Coyle for the combative midfielder, Dougie Freedman moved quickly to secure the signature of fans-favourite, Jay Spearing.

Penning a four-year deal and taking the No. 6 shirt, Spearing has become Freedman`s 9th summer signing with still over 3 weeks of the transfer window remaining.

Dougie and the Reebok faithful had a rocky start to their relationship. But at the end of last season and the beginning of this, a shift in affections has been witnessed, with both fans and manager enjoying each others company. The supporters at Turf Moor last Saturday made no secret to the manager of their desire to bring the Liverpool-man back to Bolton. So it would be easy to assume that Dougie has rewarded their support by buying them a new toy of their choice. Football obviously doesn`t work like that and even though Freedman has been relatively quiet in his stance to bring Spearing back to the Reebok early on in the summer, now it would seem Spearing was his top target all along.

So much so, the midfielder`s locker was never replaced. It has remained there for him at the club untouched.

Welcome back to the Reebok, Jay Spearing.
