BWFC: Where Are The Goals Coming From?

Six games into the season. One goal scored. Harry Leek on our goal drought

Right, I`m going to keep this short and sweet this week, because quite frankly there`s nothing much more to this subject other than HOW/WHO/WHAT in the holy depths of hell is going to score our goals? It`s as simple as that. Where are the goals going to come from? Who`s going to deliver for us? Listen, I think NL has done an absolutely sterling job (pardon the pun) with his recruits this summer, on a budget less than shoestring.

Defence-wise its been years since we have looked better – take that what you will – We have cover at both full-back positions, CB positions looks solid with Prince & the now suspended Dervite, also not to mention Wheater & Derik to come back after the international break. Midfield I think is fine, if anything we have too many of them.
It all just boils down to the forward line. We desperately need some sort of striker who has any kind of goal scoring record quite frankly, that`s how badly we need one. But with deadline day looming and with us still having no oil giants in charge, it doesn`t look like one is coming in. So as I refer to my opening line, where are our goals going to come from?

I was there on Friday and I`ve never been so frustrated, if we have someone who is prone to sticking the bloody ball in the net we would have won. Madine – who I actually like, couldn`t do anything against Blackburn and their big CB`s, Heskey made a bit of an impact and was ridiculously close to scoring, but we simply cannot rely on the 38 year old veteran.

First of all, we need our little Denton magician to start singing from the same hymn sheet as last season. He`s had a lot of pressure on him prior to the season starting with almost everyone bigging him up, expecting big things & that`s not just BWFC fans. He`s only young and we simply need to nurture him, we know how much of a talent our Zach is, but we simply cannot rush him.

Max Clayton should be back after the international break, along with Derik & Wheater, and Max will be like a new signing to us and will give us a much needed boost. However, he`s just come back from a horrendous ACL injury which means it will most likely take time for him to hit his form. I trust Madine just needs a goals and that will do him the world of good, I genuinely think he`ll surprise a few, just needs confidence.

Have we got the quality to start firing or are we doomed if Neil Lennon doesn`t capture a striker before the window?
