Portsmouth visit the Reebok on Saturday, with manager Tony Adams having been reassured that he can spend the £21.5 million that Real Madrid will pay for Lassana Diarra. On new players that is, there are no plans to send him down the off licence. This contradicts theories that the South Coast club, in debt and up for sale, will be having a clear out once the transfer window opens. The midfielder is also interesting Manchester City. Diarra may yet go to Eastlands – but only to tell them he`s off to Spain.
The France international is well known to Bolton fans. He scored the only goal of last season`s encounter at the Reebok from an offside position after his side had been on the receiving end for ninety minutes. Not that Wanderers can complain too much, they did a similar smash and grab raid at Fratton Park in the 2006-7 season.
Diarra is unlikely to play on Saturday, but Portsmouth old boy Matthew Taylor is almost certain to feature. Taylor has some atoning to do after missing a hat-trick of sitters against his former employers in February`s clash.
