Darcy Reacts To First Professional Deal

|

A piece of brilliant news for everyone concerned with Bolton Wanderers – Ronan Darcy has signed a professional contract which will in theory keep him at the club for the next couple of years.

Darcy made his debut at the end of the 2018-19 campaign, on the final day at Nottingham Forest. After being part of the Junior Whites which kept the club going at the start of the season just gone, he would continue to be a part of the squad after Keith Hill and his signings came in, the attacking midfielder managing to score a couple of goals along the way.

There was a slight concern after Dennis Politic signed a deal months ago and a further four players did likewise a few months ago, but an Instagram post from Darcy last week hinted that he would stick around despite our relegation to League Two, and today’s news confirms that.

That means a good chunk of the club’s more promising youngsters are signed up for next season, whenever that ends up starting. It’s a good core, which will need to be helped by a number of more experienced signings, but the signing of Darcy is great news, even if it only means we get a fee from him next summer. But preferably, we’ll have him for a few years. Time is on his side.
