Duo Set To Sign

So, we look set to sign the highly-rated Max Clayton whom we were previously linked with. Dougie has apparently negotiated a more affordable deal for Bolton including performance and sell on clauses for the 20 year old.

Crewe were wanting around 1 million for the striker- a fee certainly out of our range and a few weeks ago we looked certain to have missed out on the deal.

Yes, it’s good that we’ve signed him. However, I’m not particularly sure why. He’s definitely highly rated- he was on trial with other big outfits during the Summer, but what we need is someone who can score goals at this level. He could barely score in Leagues 1 and 2 for Crewe. I know he’s still young and he can improve, but I would’ve liked to see someone with more of a proven track record join. However, given our finances and form we’re unlikely to be able to attract someone with the credentials we need, so Dougie’s had to roll the dice here and we’ll see.

The other player we look likely to sign is Paddy Kenny, due to another injury to Adam Bogdan. I think Kenny is a very solid ‘keeper at this level but we already have two who are very competitive in the Championship. Kenny can’t be on low wages given that he was playing for QPR just a few years ago.

Sorry it’s been another shorter post- there wasn’t really very much to write about. What do you think about these signings? Leave your thoughts below
