After his protracted transfer to Newcastle United it will come as a surprise to most that Abdoulaye Faye took the field for Bolton in last night`s game with Fulham. At least according to Bolton News reporter Gordon Sharrock

‘Lee made nine changes for the cup tie – only Kevin Davies and Abdoulaye Faye were survivors of the team that started Sunday’s draw with Spurs,` wrote Sharrock. It was of course, Abdoulaye Meite.

Muppet match reporters aside it was a good night for the Whites. Danny Guthrie`s spectacular strike gave them the lead against an almost full strength Fulham side and although they rode their luck at times, Stelios`s winner nine minutes before the end of extra time gave them a deserved victory, after David Healy had equalised.

Mr Faye had a lean time the night before, as he and his new colleagues were outclassed by a youth team at the Emirates. So much for Sam Allardyce`s claim that he ‘knows how to beat Arsenal.`
