My thoughts immediately after losing to Dougie Freedman’s Nottingham Forest

I guess I’m kind’ve boring this format from lionofviennasuite.sbnation.com- a great site.

Anyway, this’ll be very short. We lost 4-1 to Dougie Freedman’s team. What’s more, we lost 3 key key players and a LOT of confidence.

We went 2-0 down and the likes of Filip Twardzik and Josh Vela were apparently struggling. However, Adam Le Fondre pulled one back from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time.

At 2-1 at half time, anything could have happened and we took a page from the book of our team under Dougie Freedman by being the architects of our own downfall.

Matt Mills got his second yellow and was sent off for a dumb challenge. Going down to 10 men against a team with the likes of Michael Antonio and Chris Burke is one of the worst things possible… What’s more, Heskey who had just come on for Twardzik had to play as a makeshift centre back. Had the substitution not taken place, Twardzik could have gone to left back and Moxey to the centre, but no one could have foreseen Mills’ sending off.

This followed an injury to Ream who had made way for Moxey earlier.

Andy Lonergan was also shouldered in the head and so Manchester United loanee Ben Amos came on and acquitted himself reasonably well.

If Lonergan is badly injured, we may well need to dig into our pockets and loan another goalkeeper now…

Things are all falling apart, as soon as we got the likes of Heskey back from injury we lose… to Dougie.

For some reason I found a weird suspicion that this wouldn’t have happened if Eidur was playing- not sure why.

Anyway, I’ll be needing some time to cool down a bit and I look forward to Neil Lennon’s reaction
