Late Comeback Earns A Point

Stephen Dobbie scored a 97th minute penalty as Bolton came back from a two goal deficit to get a draw against Ipswich.

Bolton had plenty of chances to go ahead, with Ipswich players making plenty of blocks and goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski making a decent save from a tame Mark Davies shot.

But despite controlling the first half, and far from the first time this season, Wanderers went behind as Kevin Bru scored an absolute rocket which went in off the bar.

Ipswich extended their lead part way through the second half, with Christophe Berra heading home from Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ free kick.

But while some fans have called effort levels into question this season, they couldn’t be faulted tonight.

Lawrie Wilson, who made a rare apparance, scored his first goal rifling in a shot on the half volley from 20 yards just minutes later. It was his first goal for the club.

Zach Clough, who was ineffectual pmaging with Liam Feeney up front and with the ball in the air a lot, was replaced by Stephen Dobbie, which drew some fairly vocal chants in Neil Lennon’s direction.

This only intensified when Wellington was brought on very late. But the Arsenal loannee, after being booked for diving within seconds, then went over again to win a late penalty, which Dobbie converted.

Overall though, most teams in a position of control such as Bolton’s would have won that game twice over. Instead, we come away with a point that is of little help.
