That, ‘it’s been a good day’, is how Neil Lennon summed up the weekend win.

Lennon maintained his 100% record as the new Bolton boss when it was 2/2 with the win over Brentford at the Macron Stadium.

There wasn’t a lot in it in the first half, perhaps with the home crowd witnessing ‘the same old same old’ but three second half goals, with just one in reply from Brentford, seeing us to a 3-1 win.

Lennon had to ‘pay compliment’ to Brentford boss Mark Warburton for how he sent his team out in the first half, but felt for 30-minutes in the second half we were ‘magnificent.’

What he wasn’t so happy with was the way that Brentford were able to get back into the game, and a missed chance that went by before the deserved third came with the win deserved with it a ‘good day’ for Bolton….

He said: ‘At 2-0 it’s always a funny scoreline and we were the architects of our downfall with the (second) goal. But then we had a one-on-one with Joe (Mason) to put the game to bed again and when you don’t take it there’s always that little bit of anxiety.

‘Then we got the third goal on the breakaway and it was a fairly deserved win. We should have been clear-cut winners long before we got the third.

‘Our quality of football (in the) second half, our will to win, our intensity to play, our pace was very, very pleasing. It’s been a good day.’

Giving the fans ‘something to enjoy’ for the weekend is what he feels he’s done, adding that win to the win he kicked-off his spell with too, which is all he can do!

Nicky Crompton is in the process of moving, so t’internet access is limited for now, so again a staff writer is helping to fill in!
