Manager Neil Lennon has said that he was torn when it came to his thoughts following the one all draw against Charlton Athletic last night.

Speaking to the Official Site following the one all draw that saw Bolton equalise late on, Lennon explained that he did have a number of positives from the game such as the return from injury for Mark Davies, but obviously he wanted the win and he believed that had we got it – especially through Liam Feeney late effort – it would’ve been deserved.

‘Charlton scored with pretty much their first meaningful attack. We should have dealt with the first ball a lot better. We felt the groans at half time were a little bit harsh because I felt that some of our build up play was good. We had ten shots on goal in the first half, so we were at least having a go.’

Lennon went on to say that he wasn’t however happy with our final ball and our ‘end product’ on the night as we wasted too many chances.

‘We dominated the second half and restricted Charlton to one or two counter attacks, though they did look quite dangerous. I was just waiting on us scoring, because we had a lot of the play. We took our time in getting the goal.’

As for the final result, he added.

‘It`s a source of frustration tonight that we haven`t won the game. We deserved to win it. Our play was good at times and if Liam scores at the end we come away with three points.’

Of course Davies was making his first team return and he did that as a second half substitute half way through the second period, and Lennon was pretty pleased with the ‘brief cameo’ he put in.

‘We saw a brief cameo of what we`ve missed from Mark. He`s an excellent player and he brings the best out of the other players around him. That`s a real positive for us tonight and he`ll be better for that run out.’
