It`s been a busy week for the whingers. First it was Birmingham City chairman David Gold, bellyaching that Gary Cahill chose to join Bolton despite being offered a better financial package at St Andrews, the freedom of the city and the opportunity to sleep with all the attractive female members of Mr Gold`s family. There might be some exaggeration there, call it journalistic license. Now Atletico Madrid coach Javier Aguirre has thrown his teddy in the corner, after his side tasted defeat at the Reebok.

‘With 10 players it was already difficult and the goal happened with a dose of bad luck,` commented Aguirre on El Hadji Diouf`s winner. Maybe it was a dose of bad defending. Or a dose of enterprising attacking play. And no one asked Sergio Aguero to gob at the linesman. Who`s fault was it, that you were down to ten men?

`Bolton played their football: Long ball and fouls, contrary to us, who tried to play,` he continued. It all sounds familiar. Nasty Bolton bullies were bad to us. There`s a support group for those who feel this way. Graeme Souness and David O`Leary are founder members.

Aguirre has little to complain about. Bolton`s football may not have been for the purists, but the victory was fully deserved. They kept a high tempo all evening and played a pressuring game that the visitors couldn`t cope with. That Jussi Jaaskelainen had only one significant save to make all evening says it all. Let`s leave the last, somewhat puzzling, words, to the Mexican whinge bag.

`If during the second leg at El Vicente Calderon we have an English referee we will have opportunities`. Come again?
