Bolton`s Jlloyd Samuel is understandably miffed at referee Rob Styles after the penalty incident at Old Trafford and feels that the match official should be disciplined.

‘There have to be penalties for referees when they make mistakes. The players and the club have been punished for his mistake, so why should he not be?` explained the former England under-21 international. ‘If players make bad decisions or play poorly we get dropped. I don’t think it should be any different for referees.’

Meanwhile, Gary Megson is in a more forgiving mood. ‘I think he’s a good referee and he made a mistake and everybody does that. He’d be welcome here or indeed if we got him away from home again,` he said.

He was also in disagreement with his full back: ‘I don’t think any of the Premier League referees should be demoted for making mistakes. I don’t see what it would do at all and we have to be a bit more forward looking than that,` continued the Bolton boss.

Wanderers fans will also welcome Styles back to the Reebok. A job lot of rotten tomatoes has been pre-ordered and a local craftsman tasked with building a set of stocks, just in front of the players` entrance. When you`re ready Rob.

Should Styles be punished, as Jlloyd suggests, or is Megson right to forgive? Vote in the latest Vital Bolton poll.
