Not Going To Make It?

Neil Lennon, upon joining Bolton Wanderers, expressed his desire in promoting the club’s expensive youth policy in the right way. This meant giving them exposure to the first team training and match day set ups.

However, it would appear that Blackpool are interested in bringing in youngsters Chris Lester and Connor Wilkinson. The deals in questino look likely to be loan with a view to permanent transfers. This will come as a surprise to many as the former has been impressing for the reserves, meanwhile Wilkinson has recently signed a new contract after a string of appearances with the first team.

Winger, Lester’s contract ends this Summer, and Wilkinson, a front man, has recently signed a contract keeping him at the Macron until 2018.

While both have played first team football, I don’t believe that they would make much of an impact now to a struggling Blackpool side who have just cancelled the contracts of twins Edu and Joan Oriol.

Signing Lester and Wilkinson would imply that they are building for the future, and they would probably be best suited to League 1 football for the near future.

This would most likely mean that a loan move without a transfer at the end would not be viable, unless they’re already resigned to relegation and would be willing to give anything a try.

I’d have thought that Neil Lennon would want to keep both for the next few years, but given the fact that we are low on funds, selling them may well be the best for Bolton’s short term future as he looks to strengthen this month.
