Not so Super Tuesday

Bolton, Fulham, Sunderland, Birmingham, Wigan and Middlesbrough are all involved in relegation six pointers this evening, on a night which may play a large part in deciding who goes down.

The Sunderland and Birmingham game may be the most interesting with both sides showing improved performances lately, without necessarily getting the points to show for it. The same could be said for Wigan who travel to an inconsistent Middlesbrough. A second away win of the season may be on the cards for Steve Bruce`s men, although they`d be well advised to leave Titus Bramble at the JJB.

Bolton take on Fulham at the Reebok in a clash that looks distinctly lacklustre for the neutral. Wanderers look toothless in attack with El Hadji Diouf missing for the African Cup of Nations and Nicolas Anelka missing forever. There`s not much bite to the Reebok frontline, but they might give you a nasty suck. Fulham have had no problems gaining a lead this season but maintaining it is something else. On eleven occasions in the league they have surrendered the advantage. They arrive at the Reebok not having won in 13 league and cup games, which will have the more nervous Bolton fans fearing that run will end tonight.

There`s little in terms of quality in any of the teams at the foot of the table. The sides who stay up will be the ones who want it most. Tonight will be the first indication of which teams match that description.
