Pre match chatter ahead of Wanderers’ trip to Hull City

On Saturday afternoon Wanderers take a trip to the Northeast to take on promotion contenders Hull City. Despite the large distance between the two sides in the league table, Hull have suffered a recent lull in form with just one point in their last three games, losing both of their last two games. Prior to their mini dip, the Tigers were unbeaten in 11 games. Whilst 11 games seems like an impressive run, it is not quite as good as the current one that Wanderers are on. We are winless in 13, and it is likely we might extend that run to 14 this weekend, as Wanderers have been struggling on the road since being founded in 1877.

After a bad week of uncertainty and chatter off the field, topped off by a winding up order from Her Majesty, it will be nice to get back to football. Any result, whether we get a point or three against Hull will be important for the spirit of the fans and players alike.

I think its important for everybody to remember, that it would be near impossible to have more dismal or unlucky string of results than we have had. In spite of this, we are still only 4 points from safety! If we can avoid administration, then all it takes it a two or three wins on the bounce and we will probably be out of the bottom three. Remain positive, support our players unconditionally, and we might not be in such a bleak situation by New Year as we are in now.

The stuff off the field is a different matter, none of us can really effect that, not even Neil Lennon. As he says himself, all we can do is trust Trevor and the “process” and hope we come out on the other side without having to sell our best players or lose 12 points.

Going back to the match, it will be exciting if we get to see Wellington Silva and Zach Clough back in Whites` shirts. It might provide the extra impetus we need to kickstart our season. Unfortunately our wait to the Clough and Clayton play on the same team will be extended by another three or four months after the latter`s recent hamstring injury.

Sorry guys, after all that I`m predicting a 3-1 loss.
