Six months and a day since we got a 2-2 draw at Burton Albion, Bolton Wanderers are back in league action tomorrow.
It’s our first fourth tier campaign in over thirty years, and we’ll open up with a first game ever against Forest Green Rovers. We start the League Two campaign having lost a couple of matches in the various cup competitions. They might have clipped the wings of some fans, but there’s still optimism that we’ll have a good season – in fact, fans, manager, and probably the owners all agree that promotion is the target an nothing else matters.
Team news
The back three is the biggest question going into tomorrow, with it being the least cut and dry part of Ian Evatt’s team selection. Alex Baptiste and Ricardo Santos could come back in tomorrow, neither were involved in Tuesday night’s EFL Trophy match. Evatt has hinted though there are a few players which could be out because of minor injuries. New Forest Green signing Elliott Whitehouse is suspended, but Liam Kitching and Scott Wagstaff could come back in.

Previously…
There is no previously, we’ve never played them!
The opposition
Forest Green are perhaps better known for their ecological side, being the world’s greenest football club and being fully vegan, both in terms of the what the players eat and what food is on offer to visitors to the New Lawn, which led to Arsenal right back Hector Bellerin recently investing in the club. In recent times, we probably know them best for signing Christian Doidge, then not paying for him, then actually quite liking Dale Vince for calling out Ken Anderson.
Prediction
Early defensive performances mean I can’t see us keeping a clean sheet, but let’s be positive, and hope things click for the opening league game. 2-1 win.
