Preview: One Area Where Bolton Could Exploit PNE Tomorrow

|

Bolton continue their miserable season tomorrow when they’re likely to lose at home to Preston North End.

Amongst another issue to emerge this week – another winding-up order from HMRC – it just makes you so excited about the match, doesn’t it?

Team news

11 players will be picked, none of them will score. Seven players will be on the bench, none of them will score either. Okay, let’s do this properly. Pawel Olkowski, Yanic Wildschut, Joe Williams, Mark Beevers and Jack Hobbs are all missing, with Marc Wilson likely to partner David Wheater in defence. Callum Connolly and Luca Connell are likely to continue their midfield partnership. Andy Taylor is doubtful, Ben Alnwick could return. Preston have been settled in their lineup and could go unchanged for the fourth successive game.

Stats and facts

The last time we beat Preston was the 2001 Division One playoff final, although since then we have only met five times. Last season’s game saw us lose 3-1 in horrendously cold weather, while we came from 2-0 down to earn adraw at Deepdale in September.

Bolton have one league win in 20 games. TWENTY games.

14 of our last 16 legue goals have come from open play, which suggests we could be doing a lot better attacking set-pieces. Preston have conceded the most headed goals too…

Going into this round of fixtures, the top two scorers in this league, Billy Sharp and Tammy Abraham, have scored the same number of goals as the entire Wanderers team. (19)

Prediction

What’s the point? 0-1
