The Ancient Bolton Ritual

Bolton Wanderers is an old club. Founded in 1874 they were founder members of the Football League and winners of the first ever FA Cup final played at Wembley. It is pleasing therefore that time-honoured customs are still being observed. We speak of course, of The Extending of Ye Olde Season Ticket Deadline.

‘We have again taken the decision to extend the deadline by two weeks to allow as many supporters as possible to take advantage of the great prices and to reduce customer waiting times,` bellowed the club cryer, reading from a scroll outside the Reebok Stadium.

Vital Bolton would like to salute this magnificently altruistic gesture and to lay to rest any cynical idea that the deadline is being extended, because despite season ticket prices being frozen or reduced for three years in succession, no bugger has bought one. Shame on anyone for even considering the thought.

Hands up, those supporters who have declined to buy a season ticket, but are still complaining about ‘lack of investment`? One, two, three?
