The Fans are Despicable, as Well as Pathetic

It`s official. The fans are pathetic. The chairman says so. However, it`s not Bolton supporters who are on the receiving end of a hissy fit this time. It`s those of Hull City, who`ve been calling for the dismissal of former Wanderer Phil Brown from the manager`s job.

‘I would say it’s pathetic. The Premier League season is only six games old,` Paul Duffen told BBC Radio Humberside.

‘This is a manager and coaching staff that have delivered this football to the city. I think it’s despicable.`

Slagging off those pay to come through the turnstiles seems routine in Premier League football these days. Aston Villa manager Martin O`Neill got grumpy after his players were booed off the pitch for a dismal performance in the opening game of the season against Wigan, and Arsene Wenger has shrugged off doubts about his Arsenal team.

However, Bolton`s Gary Megson still leads the way when it comes to disengaging with the punters. The Ginger One has previously labelled a section of the support as ‘pathetic` claimed that barracking was ‘water off a duck`s back` and that the fans made ‘mountains out of molehills.` Last weekend he surpassed himself.

‘I don`t know, I`m not bothered,` Meggers answered when asked if the Whites second half performance at home to Stoke was enough to send the fans home happy.
