Nigel Adkins, Steve Cotterill and Chris Powell have all been interviewed for the manager’s job.

According to the Bolton News, all three candidates have met with Ken Anderson, and a fourth manager still in work is still to be interviewed, after having to cancel a meeting.

Peter Reid is now out of the running for the job.

The three names, along with the continuing links with Steve Evans, who appears to be a dead man walking at Leeds, screams of picking a manager who has been there and done it at League One level, a necessary departure from Wanderers’ recent philosophy of picking managers with potential but unproven in the league we have been in.

All four names mentioned have taken a team up from League One, Adkins in fact has done it with both Scunthorpe and Southampton.

Powell won the division with Charlton in 2012, Cotterill did so with Bristol City last season, while Evans took Rotherham up via the playoffs in 2014.
