Another product of the famous Crewe Alexandra academy could be on his way to the Macron, reports suggest. Nick Powell, 20, currently on loan at Leicester City came through the youth system at Gretsy Road along with current Bolton Wanderers striker, Max Clayton.

Powell had an impressive season in the Championship for Wigan Athletic last year, and was apparently on Dougie Freedman’s radar just before joining Leicester on loan.

However, he’s struggled to impress there so far and it s rumoured that Neil Lennon could try to prise the attacking midfielder into a loan move to Bolton.

I’m sure a lot of Championship clubs would want to bring in a player of Powell’s quality, and would want to rival Bolton if a formal approach is made.

We might not be able to offer the finances to Manchester United that other clubs could, however we are a team on the up, we have best manager in the league, we have some of the best facilities and we can guarantee first team football.

The addition of Powell, I’m sure, would be beneficial to us. We’ll be lacking creative midfielders Chung Yong Lee and Mark Davies due to international duty and injury respectively. To add to this, Stuart Holden is a long-term absentee along with Max Clayton and Joe Mason who are both out for a number of months.

We were earlier linked with a move for Celtic attacking midfielder, Kris Commons who has been terrific in Scotland since his move from Derby County. However, I’m pretty sure we’ll only bring in one of Powell or Commons (if any) due to obvious financial constraints we need to prioritise.

Do you think we should sign Nick Powell?
