Bolton Wanderers are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by David Wheater in the three nil victory over Peterborough United at the weekend at the Macron Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Wheater was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Bolton secured promotion from Sky Bet League One courtesy of a 3-0 win over Peterborough United on Sunday lunchtime. The centre-back was key at both ends, making a vital block to keep Wanderers 1-0 up, and then scoring the second goal to put the game to bed.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Wheater for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Connor Ripley (Oldham Athletic), Derrick Williams (Blackburn Rovers), Aden Flint (Bristol City), David Wheater (Bolton Wanderers), Christian Burgess (Portsmouth), Jake Taylor (Exeter City), Shane Ferguson (Millwall), Craig Gardner (Birmingham City), Curtis Weston (Barnet), Nicky Adams (Carlisle United), Harvey Barnes (MK Dons).

Manager – Nathan Jones (Luton Town).
