David Wheater is your Vital Bolton Player of the Season.

David Wheater has been crowned Vital Bolton’s Player of the Season after winning a whopping 68% of the vote.

The centre back has struggled with injury problems and was also involved in a Periscope-related mishap before the defeat away to Brentford last month.

But when he has got on the pitch, he has performed fairly well by the admittedly shocking standards we’ve set this season. In the last few weeks of the season he started to form a promising partnership with Rob Holding as he helped a succession of young debutants through games.

Holding was the only other player to receive votes. Holding bagged the club’s offcial Player of the Year prize, and took the remaining 32% of our vote, and he can look back on his first season in senior football with some pride. It’s just a shame he’s likely to depart.

All that leaves me to say, is congratulations David.
