Accrington Offer A Source Of Some Redemption For Bolton

|

Arguably Bolton Wanderers have been for some time now, simply playing for pride.

There is also the silver lining of not finishing bottom up for grabs, but by and large, we know we’re in League 2 and it’s about trying to get a few wins on the board if nothing else. The pride has taken a few dents this season, and the biggest was probably back in November when we played the reverse fixture against tomorrow’s opponents. Daryl Murphy put us ahead at Accrington but after Josh Earl’s controversial red card it all fell apart, to the extent where I argued the day after on here it was the worst result in our history.

Shortly after that we lost at the Wham Stadium again, a less embarrassing 2-0 loss in the Checkatrade Trophy. A win tomorrow probably won’t change much long or even short term, but it would be nice for some pride to kick in and exorcise some demons.

Team news

Liam Edwards has picked up a kneecap injury which has ended his season. Harry Brockbank is unavailable due to illness (guessing it’s not the coronavirus, we just need that in the squad now and that’s probably injury and illness bingo completed this season). Ronan Darcy is back in training but will probably miss this game, but Anthony Georgiou may be able to make his debut. Or maybe he isn’t.

Facts and stats

Bolton have conceded nine goals and scored one in two trips to Accrington this season.

Accrington have lost their last couple of games, while we’ve lost five in a row.

Prediction

I’ll go for a draw. 1-1
