Bolton Wanderers are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this midweek’s action.

The performance by Ben Alnwick in the one nil victory over Coventry City on Tuesday at the Macron Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Alnwick was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Bolton were dominant in the first half of their midweek win against Coventry City, with the visiting goalkeeper Lee Burge in fine form. But the Sky Blues responded strongly after the break and Alnwick made a number of key saves, preserving a second straight clean sheet for the high-flying Trotters.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Alnwick for his recognition, but the most important thing about the match was of course the win.

Full Team:

Ben Alnwick (Bolton Wanderers), Bira Dembele (Barnet), Tom Eastman (Colchester United), Curtis Nelson (Oxford United), Ollie Turton (Crewe Alexandra), Adam Chicksen (Charlton Athletic), Michael Doyle (Portsmouth), Josh Cullen (Bradford City), Liam McAlinden (Exeter City), David Ball (Fleetwood Town), Steven Davies (Rochdale).

Manager – Danny Wilson (Chesterfield).
