It`s fair to say that Gary Megson has never been the most popular of Bolton managers. A poll conducted by the Bolton News prior to his appointment showed that only 1.7% were in favour. Or to put it another way, only twelve people voted for him. The suspicion that one of them was his Dad, has never been allayed.
Even in November, in the middle of a good sequence of results and despite this site`s Be Nice to the Ginger One campaign (which the club has never thanked us for) 66% of our poll respondents wanted him sacked. So it`s something of a surprise that 77% of voters in the latest poll feel that he deserves his new contract.
Of course that may be subject to change if Bolton lose to Stoke City on Wednesday, but by that time the poll will have been replaced. After all, we wouldn`t want to spoil a good story.
