Bolton To Make Cup Changes

|

Bolton turn their attention to the Cup tonight as they head down to Bristol City for the fourth round tie, just 13 days after playing a league fixture at Ashton Gate.

The other day, I wrote about how I’d like to see us have a go at the competition, but Phil Parkinson may still make a few changes ahead of the tie. Incidentally, this is on a Friday due to Bristol Rugby using the ground tomorrow, so there you go.

Team news

Remi Matthews may get a go in between the sticks, some may say that should be a permanent thing. Joe Pritchard and Luca Connell will probably be involved after recently getting minutes in the first team. Matty Taylor, who scored against us the other week, has been out but could be back, but defenders Jack Hunt and Adam Webster, plus keeper Niki Maenpaa, are all doubts.

Facts and stats

We’ve lost both previous FA Cup ties against Bristol City. We’ve already met twice this season, with a 2-2 draw in August, then a 2-1 away defeat 13 days ago.

Bolton can book a place in the fifth round for the first time since 2012, when they ultimately reached the sixth round.

The last time Phil Parkinson managed at this stage, he knocked Chelsea out with Bradford in 2015.

Prediction

Probably a swift Cup exit, 2-0 to the cider guzzlers.
