Bolton’s unbeaten run of six games came to an end at the weekend when they lost to Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend.

This ended any, albeit unlikely, outside chances of a ‘late play-off surge’ but also made the possibility of being sucked back into the relegation something that could happen.

Dougie Freedman doesn’t always feel that Bolton at getting the ‘rub of the green’ but has called on his players to become mentally tougher and look to ‘grind out’ some results if the performances aren’t that good.

He told the Bolton News: ‘If you don’t play so well in a game you can take the point, but we’re not really doing that at the moment.

‘At this football club at the moment we don’t seem to be getting that rub of the green. It seems we always have to be performing at our absolute maximum to get anything out of a game.

‘That’s where maybe I need to get into the team’s mentality that sometimes we really do have to grind out results.’

All in all though he’s not to despondent following the defeat to Brighton.

The Bolton boss sees that defeat as ‘a blip’ and wants this to be quickly forgotten, and put behind the club, when they take on Yeovil Town this weekend.

Freedman added: ‘It was a blip because the way we have been playing for a dozen games has been fine.

‘Sometimes you’ve got to put your hands up, take it like a man and move on, that’s what we’ll do at Yeovil next weekend.

‘It isn’t a drama. Brighton are a good team and you have to take your hat off to them. In both boxes there was nothing in the game and we had chances to win it.’

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.
