Is Dougie plotting a loan deal for the promising youngster from Newcastle?
The Newcastle Chronicle has reported, young Magpies forward, Sammy Ameobi, is on the wish-list of Trotters boss Dougie Freedman.
The 21-year-old- recently placed into the senior squad by Alan Pardew- is being lined up for a half/season long loan deal at the Reebok Stadium. Apparently Freedman is pushing to get the deal done and dusted for the opening fixture of the Championship campaign, away to Burnley.
However, before any deal can be discussed, Alan Pardew wants to run the rule over Sammy in the first two weeks of pre-season training after the youngster finds himself in a similar position this year to where he found himself at the end of last season. Ameobi knows he must impress Pardew in the early part of the summer if he is to have any shot at featuring for the Magpies in this make-or-break Premiership campaign for their manager.
Whites` fans may remember the impact Ameobi had for Middlesbrough last season. He showed his Premiership potential instantly, netting on his debut in a 2-1 win against Cardiff City in March.
Marvin Sordell was one of the front-men chosen above Sammy for the England Under-21 squad which played in Israel for the European Championships. After the disappointment of being left out, Ameobi now may face the challenge of showing he can cut it in one of the most gruelling Championship campaigns next season is shaping up to be.
