Jay Spearing is the subject of a £1.5 million bid from Blackburn Rovers… Or is he?

Numerous reports this weekend suggested Blackburn Rovers had agreed a fee of £1.5million for the Bolton Wanderers loan midfielder, Jay Spearing. The story left the Whites` faithful scratching their heads. The approach from Blackburn, the fee agreed upon and why Bolton hadn`t at least matched their offer, had Wanderers` fans storming Twitter like the Queen had just been filmed doing ‘Gangnam Style`.

I myself was questioning why the club was letting last year`s standout performer get away for a fee similar to one being thrown around for Jermaine Beckford. Now, without going at all into detail about financial figures or amounts, Dougie Freedman has thrown iced-water over the Blackburn fire by suggesting, fans shouldn’t believe everything they read in the press.

There are always two sides to any story and in football nowadays- combined with agents and social media- a transfer tale can have many versions of reality. But the question marks over why the Whites hadn`t locked horns with Rovers over last season`s ‘player of the year` can be doused just by believing our manager. Dougie`s not stupid and when he says he enquired about Spearing and the price was too high, you have to accept that and move on. But? If the £1.5 million is agent and club speak for Dougie to come back and try again while they`re feeling generous, that could rekindle the fire.

That just leaves one question? Is £1.5 million too high? How high is too high? Ok, two questions.
