What should we do about Sierre Leone international, Medo Kamara?

Cast your mind back 12 months ago, Medo Kamara was a pivotal part of Bolton`s struggling side. Nowadays, Medostruggles to get a place in the Manchester County Cup winning Under 21s outfit. After bursting on the scene with a number of impressive performances in early 2013, Medo`sform dipped with Dougie Freedman`s Wanderers`. After his arrival, Neil Lennon found a successful midfield partnership of Neil Danns and Darren Pratley, leaving Medo`s stock at Wanderers falling ever since. The question now is.. What do we do with him?

In a perfect world a loan away from the whites would a) get Medo out of the building and b) free up more room in the budget for Neil`s search for a striker. Us Bolton fans are, however, more aware than most that we don`t live in a perfect world and after failing to shift him in the summer a move away seems unlikely at present. Maccabi Haifa looked like they`d solve the problem by taking him on loan for the latter part of last season until the manager who signed him was abruptly relieved of his duties. So as Medo`s involvement is a side seems to bring about the sacking of the manager that signed him, it would take a brave soul to take him on. Gary Caldwell may even struggle to fit him in Wigan ‘Bolton XI` Athletic.

So what else can we do with the man once labelled ‘The next Luka Modric`? In midfield Bolton actually have quite a nice problem in that we have a number of strong options. Mark Davies, Josh Vela, Neil Danns, Jay Spearing and skipper Darren Pratley have all featured in the centre of the park thus far this season in the league and with Bolton knocked out of the Captital One Cup, Medo`s only action looks as if it will come courtesy of International duty.

It is a shame to see the Sierra Leone international fallen so farfrom grace as at a time he was a rare highlight in an otherwise struggling side. Always capable of an all-action man of the match performance, he could also pop up with a goal from time to time. So what went wrong? Undoubtedly being involved in Freedman`s side near the end of the Scot`s spell in charge would have an impact on anyone`s game. Being booed off regularly can`t help a player`s confidence. When Lennon arrived, Medo was one of the players that I personally thought could excel but an injury curtailed any chance of game time under Neil. By the time he was fit again Wanderers were flying with Danns and Pratley pivotal to an impressive run of form, leaving Medo shipped off to play in Israel.

The most probable solution to the 5ft 8in sized problem in the Wanderers ranks is a loan move away with Bolton paying most of his wages, getting very little benefit from the deal and him eventually leaving when his contract runs down for free. An unspectacular ending for a once fans` favourite, still, we`ll always have his header in the 4-0 mauling of Blackburn.
