Bolton player ratings from our recent trip to Craven Cottage

First Team:

Lonergan– 6- Didn’t do too much wrong and was not helped by some pretty awful defending. Made a good save or two, but distribution was a little inconsistent.

Herd-5- I’m not convinced by Herd at right back, though he was no worse than the majority of our defence. I have my doubts over his passing and positioning at times, though he made some promising runs.

Mills-4.5- Terrible slip leading to Fulham’s first set the tone for a disappointing game for one of our most consistent performers in recent weeks and he quite rightly came off.

Dervite-5.5- Our best player at the back (which isn’t saying much). He won his headers, though a lack of closing down from the whole defence proved costly. His passing was a little random at times.

Moxey-3.5- I really do feel for Moxey. He’s been dreadful so far for Bolton, but he clearly does have all the attributes needed to succeed- he just doesn’t use them properly. His defending was poor and he provided no support for Feeney. A better second half showing brought his rating up from 2.5.

Ream-5- The US international has been thrown all over the pitch by Dougie Freedman. That’s no way to treat your Player of the Season. Ream wasn’t brilliant and he had as frustrating a game as anyone else.

Spearing-5- There is fight in Spearing, though recently he’s shown little else. His passing ability has seemed to have dropped hugely this season. He battled around a bit though.

Danns-4- He just doesn’t look the player that helped bring us out of this situation last year. His runs are monochromatic and his crossing, well awful.

Pratley-4.5- To be honest, I forgot Pratley was on the pitch. He did hit the crossbar on a difficult chance though.

Feeney-6.5- Our Man of the Match, Liam Feeney was given no support by his full back, but still managed to cause problems for Hoogland. He’d definitely be better off on the right hand side though so he doesn’t have to cut inside to get a decent cross in.

Cravies5- Craig Davies did very little with the ball, but definitely looked up to fight for his team. He played up front on his own, but didn’t get the ball enough as Lonergan elected to direct every single goal kick at the 5 ft 7 Liam Feeney.

Featured Subs:

Mavies-6- Sparky came on and immediately made an impact, running at their midfielders, making ground. He almost scored too. Towards the end of the match he seemed to die out a bit though, as the outcome of the match had already been decided.

Beckford-5- A few decent touches and runs is not enough to compensate missing an absolute sitter from a Liam Feeney cross.

Mason5- Should have started alongside Cravies, but he didn’t and we paid the price for it. Though he came on quite early on, he didn’t get anywhere near enough of the ball though when he did he passed the ball nicely.
