Wanderers’ current crop, albeit with some understandable rotation, ran out 7-4 winners against a team of past greats, on a day where the club rallied around for the family of Gethin Jones – whose mother had been diagnosed with the disease.
I couldn’t make it myself, but a good chunk of Sunday evening was just spent seeing a lot of photos and videos from the day – and just smiling. Whether it was Jay-Jay dancing with Big Sam again, or seeing Ivan Campo pose with photos with fans, or players meeting each other once again, it just seemed like a really fun day, and for 13,000 fans to be able to turn up for the occasion just showed what a club we are, especially after a few years under an owner that would never have sanctioned anything like this.
You also have to laugh at Ian Evatt, a former centre half, taking the number 10 shirt for the day, having being vacated by Antoni Sarcevic’s departure, and promptly going on to score a hat-trick.
