Bolton Aiming To Avoid Replay Banana Skin

|

Bolton have another crack at Stockport tonight in the FA Cup, needing to travel to Edgeley Park to reach round two.

It was a 2-2 draw a week and a bit ago, and now we face the tricky prospect of an away tie, in front of a near sell-out, with the BBC there to show it live and probably wanting a Stockport win. Hopefully we can cut out the mistakes from the original tie and set up that match away to Rotherham in a few weeks time.

Team news

While Eoin Doyle’s calf injury isn’t meant to be serious, he missed Friday’s league win over Crewe and is touch and go for tonight. Otherwise it should be as you were in terms of who is available for us, and there shouldn’t be too many changes from the game the other night.

Possible XI – Dixon; Isgrove, Almeida Santos, Aimson. John; Williams, Sheehan; Kachunga, Lee, Afolayan; Bakayoko

Last time out

This will be Bolton’s first competitive trip to Edgeley Park in nearly 20 years. We last went there in an FA Cup third round tie in January 2002. There were no problems that day getting past them, Gudni Bergsson and David Norris scored first half goals, while Henrik Pedersen and Michael Ricketts put the game to bed in the second half. Jon Daly pulled one back with a late penalty, but we went through to the fourth round, 4-1 the final score.

The opposition

Antoni Sarcevic might be involved this time having missed the original tie – he started on Saturday as they could only draw 1-1 at home to Bromley, that’s the only game Stockport have played since the tie at the UniBol, County remain 11th in the National League, five points off the play-off spots.

Prediction

It could be a tricky tie but I’ll be positive and predict we’ll get through. 2-0 to Bolton.
