Each time Stuart Holden has suffered an injury setback, and lets face it he’s had a good number of them since 2011, he has been determined to battle back.

Now recovering from his second anterior cruciate ligament injury in a row, and having played just 9 games in the past three-years, he has thanked Dougie Freedman and the club for their continued support.

This support has given him extra confidence knowing that belief is being shown in him.

Holden told The Bolton News: ‘I feel grateful they’ve stuck by me and the coach has been fantastic.

‘We have spoken a few times and he’s said that if I’m going to give this a go then they’re going to be there with me.

‘That gives me the confidence in my training and everything I’m doing to get healthy, knowing someone believes in me that much and I don’t want to let them down.’

Taking the time that is fully needed for the 28-year-olds knee to heal is what he wants to do, and aims to do, but he again reiterated his thoughts that he is fully determined to return.

Not only will he return when 100% ready, nothing less, he is eyeing a role for both club and country with him aiming to still be a Bolton player next season despite his contract being up in the summer.

He added: ‘I want to make sure I take my time and give my knee the time it needs to fully recover and make sure that when I’m back out there playing, I’m not just 99 per cent or 100 per cent. I want to be even better than that.

‘I’m fully confident I can still get through this and get back on the field, not only to play a role for my club at Bolton but for the national team as well. My contract finishes in July but credit to the club.’

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
