Hull City have resumed their interest in Bolton central defender Abdoulaye Meite. Manager Phil Brown had earlier baulked at the asking price of £3 million, but he confirmed that negotiations were now taking place.

‘It’s chairman to chairman and we are still talking,’ he told the Hull Daily Mail.

Meite slipped down the pecking order at the Reebok after the arrival of Gary Cahill, but he has two years Premier League experience, over twenty international caps, featured in a number of UEFA campaigns whilst at Marseille and is still only 27. If Hull are serious about top flight survival then they should be prepared to get closer to Bolton`s valuation of the player.
