In Form Bolton Face Out Of Form Port Vale

|

It’s another game for Bolton Wanderers but unusually, one that will come after a full week off.

After the winning run continued against Southend, Port Vale are now the ones coming up to the UniBol, with a chance for us to get into the playoffs. Can we make it a sixth successive win in all competitions for the first time in we can only guess since when?

Team news

There will have to be one change from the recent winning lineup, after Andrew Tutte’s injury ruled him out for the next few weeks. Ian Evatt said he’ll wait as long as possible to make the decision on who his replacement is, but I’m guessing it is Tom White’s to lose.

Previously…

We hope you didn’t arrive late the last time we hosted Port Vale. Back in October 2016, Zach Clough, Josh Vela and Lawrie Wilson all scored to have us 3-0 up inside 16 minutes. Sam Hart would pull one back, but Bolton ran out 3-1 winners. And we all remember the reverse fixture…

The opposition

Port Vale seem to be us in opposite land, they started the season well, but have now lost their last five league fixtures. Wanderers’ win last weekend sent them three points clear of tomorrow’s opponents, who sit 14th. Devante Rodney’s three goals make him the club’s top scorer.

Prediction

It’s weird being confident, the worry is how we cope without Tutte, and how that’ll affect our ability to pass it forward from midfield. But we should have enough. 1-0 to Bolton.
