Is Lonergan Up For The Fight

Andy Lonergan has slipped behind Adam Bogdan as Bolton’s first choice ‘keeper but he still has a future at the club, and could yet earn an extended stay.

Like Bogdan, who Dougie Freedman is ‘weighing up’ a new deal for, Lonergan has a year left on his Bolton contract but the boss has taken to the Bolton News to reveal that the 30-year-old is still in his plans and could still earn a new contract.

Lonergan is one of those that Freedman reportedly wants to ‘offload’ but he has rejected that notion and says that he is still wants to have him at the club, even though Arran Lee-Barrett looks as though he’ll also get another deal.

Freedman says that Lonergan is ‘not a number two, he’s very, very capable of playing in the Championship’ and as long as he is ready to battle Bogdan, even Lee-Barrett, perhaps for a place in the squad then he is happy to have him around, for at least the next year….

Do you expect Lonergan to still be with Bolton next season, what about the season after that?

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
