Do Bolton risk Adam Bogdan running down his contract and leaving for nothing next summer or do they offer him a new contract?

He has had his ups and downs with the club, as most players do during a career, but he seems to have come back stronger and is the Bolton no.1, and by some margin I would say as an outsider looking in.

Dougie Freedman tells the Bolton News that he ‘definitely appreciates Adam’ and he has ‘an eye on extending the contract’ but also concedes that much will come down to the budget that the club have.

Finding ‘that balance’ is what he needs to do.

If Bogdan is viewed as the long-term option at Bolton then surely it makes sense to get him onto a new contract as the longer you leave this the more likely it becomes he will walk away for someone else to benefit in a years time and that year will soon be here.

You can’t overstretch a budget but if all parties are happy you would think a compromise can be found and as much as contracts do not mean much these days if the Hungarian is under this if his performances catch the attentions of another club they have to pay the price.

On the flip side if form dips and the 26-year-old drops out of the side again you can find yourself paying a player decent wages for nothing in return.

It is a tough balancing act but what would you do and what are your thoughts?

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
