In a rare victory for common sense, Newcastle United jailbird Joey Barton has been refused early release by the prison authorities. Barton, who has served eight weeks of a six month sentence was hoping to be released on an electronic tag. Connecting him to the mains would be a better idea.
The Magpies midfielder was out on bail for an assault on team mate Ousmane Dabo when he attacked two people in Liverpool last Christmas. He was linked to Bolton last month, in a story concocted by Daily Mirror muppet, Alan ‘Porky` Nixon.
