Emile Heskey, formerly a player with Aston Villa as well as Leicester and Liverpool, has ‘talked up’ Neil Lennon for the managerial vacancy with the Premier League side….

Heskey, who isn’t currently available due to injury, had done his best to try and get his Bolton manager onto the Aston Villa radar by telling TalkSport that he would be ‘tailor-made for a big club’ – Heskey doesn’t view us as such then?

Heskey, given the chance at the Macron by his former Leicester teammate goes back years with Lennon so knows him well and feels that he would also have ‘what it takes’ to cope with being the Aston Villa manager.

‘I definitely think he has got what it takes. People forget what he did at Celtic, he had a phenomenal time at Celtic as manger, beating Barcelona in the Champions League.

‘He has had a phenomenal career up to now and now he has taken Bolton to another level as well, considering we were low on confidence he brought that back and brought a lot of players in who have enhanced the club.

‘He is tailor-made for a big club.’

The name of Lennon has been mentioned although he’s not been viewed as a ‘main candidate’ for the job following Paul Lambert’s sacking and even if he was he isn’t looking to move on from the Macron just yet.

Any speculation linking him is something he told Sky Sports was ‘flattering’ but he’s ‘fine here’ at the moment.

‘I`m fine here. There’s nothing in it at all. It’s just speculation.

‘It’s not affected me one bit. The only time it affects me is when I have to answer questions on it.

‘It’s flattering but that’s all it is; just speculation.’

That puts this one to bed then….
