Opposition View: What Will Reading Offer?

|

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Reading, we spoke to Royals fan Dean Swift, who tells us who to look out for on Saturday, and also how one of our transfer targets got on the other night for the team he eventually joined.

It hasn’t been a good start to the season in the league, but you did win on Tuesday against Birmingham in the Carabao Cup? How have Reading played, and what are expectations this season?

Played well against Derby, should’ve been out of sight, then the keeper throws one in the net and a worldie finish in the last minute to lose the game. Huffed and puffed against Forest, not overly threatening. Brum made 11 changes, we were fairly strong. Always looked the better side, good to get a win.

Jaap Stam overachieved in his first season, which got him sacked last season. Paul Clement has a similar possession-based game, but quicker to get it forward. Mid-table would be OK.

Sam Walker, who spent a chunk of pre-season with us, signed for you in the end and played in the cup the other night. How was he?

Walker was OK, not much to do. A few good stops at the end. Doubt it will get him a game on Saturday.

Who is your player to watch?

Player to look out for Saturday would be Yakou Meite, played up front in pre-season due to a lack of options, proper winger, did well there on Tuesday night, benefiting from a loan to France last season.

What’s your score prediction?

Hoping to nick a one-nil win. Hope mutual friend Adam Le Fondre does well in Australia. It would be nice to see Parky do well too, Captain Fantastic here. Still sing his song at Christmas, “twelve Parkinson’s…”
