Politic Tied Down But Hall Let Go For Now

|

Every Bolton fan wants a signing or ten before the January window closes, but we have done one piece of important business for the future, which was announced earlier.

Dennis Politic has signed a contract through to 2022. Having come through the junior ranks, circumstances this season have helped give him his break as a Wanderers first-teamer. As Keith Hill came in and more of his signings got up to speed, Politic dropped out of view a little, but has been more involved again recently, including scoring his first league goal against Burton on New Year’s Day.

Keith Hill recently explained that while Politic was onside with him and his coaching staff, there was still room for improvement.

“Dennis can be an excellent player but he has to improve on his fitness. I don’t want to be in a position where he’s flagging and letting full-backs out or central midfield players in the later stages of the game.”

It’s obviously a good thing that one of the club’s better youngsters is tied down to a deal for a couple of years now, especially with previous rumoured interest from Aston Villa and Wolves. Ronan Darcy is the next target to retain for the foreseeable future now, Liam Edwards did sign a deal earlier in the season, while Yoan Zouma might be another one worth keeping around.

Meanwhile Connor Hall has been sent out on loan to Conference side Chorley. Ironically, he made his first league appearance for Wanderers a week ago, when he came on late against Portsmouth. It seems a shame to send him out, but he isn’t getting in ahead of Daryl Murphy, Muhammadu Faal has not long been signed, while we still need other bodies in other positions with a squad limit to worry about.
