Bolton travel abroad for their penultimate away game of the season. Well, Wales anyway.

Cardiff have marginally more to play for. They have an outside chance of making the playoffs but defeat on Tuesday left them six poings adrift of sixth. A slip up would probably end their season.

For us, it’s a chance to win an away game at the ground we last won on the road over a year ago, and another chance for youth to gain experience.

Vital Quotes

‘The game will be a great chance for some of the younger players to prove themselves too. We need to build on our defensive display the other night though and improve going forward in these last few games.’

Jimmy Phillips press conference musings.

Cardiff City Team News:

Bruno Ecuele Manga could be available after a bout of malaria. And I complain about a runny nose…

Kenneth Zohore, who has often come off the bench, could start, with Anthony Pilkington moving out wide.

Player to watch: Bruno Ecuele Manga

A strong, good defender who is useful on the air, if he comes back from his bout of malaria.

Lex Immers has scored 5 in 13 since joining in January, so he another to watch going further forward.

Bolton Wanderers Team News:

Mark Davies picked up an overdue injury, doing his knee on Tuesday night. So be will be out. As is Filip Twardzik who is now on trial with Slavia Prague.

Dorian Dervite and Gary Madine are facing fitness tests. Oscar Threlkeld could and should start again.

Player to watch: David Wheater

Cardiff are quite good in the air and tend to play to those strengths, so again Wheater could be important in those aerial duels.

Match Facts & Stats

Cardiff have won just one of their last seven league games against us, but that came in the 3-2 at the Macron in December.

This was the venue of our last away win, coming out 3-0 victors 12 months ago.

Tuesday’s point ensured we overtook Blackpool’s record low second tier points total (while 3 for a win) set last season.

Match Prediction:

Back to losing ways after Tuesday’s blip. Cardiff cannot afford to lose. 2-0

Next Fixtures:

Home to Hull, away to Fulham, and it’s over. Thank God.
