Could Bolton be looking at Chelsea striker Nathan Ake? Those are the reports from the weekend anyway.

By all accounts Burnley, Watford and Wigan all had offers for Ake rejected by Chelsea in January with Jose Mourinho seeing him as part of the premier league sides set-up in the long-term future, in the short-term though perhaps he could go out on loan.

Looking to increase his defensive and midfield options, areas that he can play, Dougie Freedman is thought to be hopeful of ‘tempting’ Chelsea to let him leave Stamford Bridge to get some first-team football at the Reebok for what left of this season.

Time will tell how much truth, if any, this has.

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.

  • Over on BurndenAces there was a debate about whether Ake was a Left Back, a Centre Half, or a Holding Midfielder…i come on here and he is a striker??

  • What a great performance on Saturday. Tempo. Drive. Positivity. 2 yes 2 forwards. A clean sheet. 4 fabulous goals. Credit where it is due that was as complete a performance I have seen for some years. Bring on Leeds and don’t chop and change Dougie!!!

  • He’s no striker. Chelsea’s Academy page describes him as “primarily a defender who can play either in the middle or on the left, but is also comfortable in the centre of midfield.” However, it looks like he isn’t coming anyway so it’s not particularly relevant.

  • Never heard of Ake. We don’t need him. If Jutkiewicz & Mason can play like Saturday why do we need another striker? DR seems to have, again, stumbled upon a viable formation. Why gamble on an untried youth player who will undoubtedly find Div 1 a struggle?

  • Fred-Classic comment from a Wanderers fan! ‘Never heard of Ake. We don’d need him.’ ‘Why gamble on an untried youth player who will undoubtedly find Div 1 a struggle?’ If you have never heard of him how do you know about his ability? We arent getting him anyway but even if he was a striker what harm would it do seeing as we only have 2 fit first team strikers???
